How old do you have to be to go to a gay club? Any advice of what to be careful about? approach people?

I want to go to one because I just turned 18 and I want to meet new friends but I'm a little hesitant since in the movies they just show guys going crazy and I"m not promiscuous. Any good ones in Long Beach, CA?
