What about Windows 7?

I am thinking about upgrading to windows 7 but i want to know what you people think of the operating system. I currently use Windows XP pro on my desktop and windows vista home basic on my laptop and frankly i am not crazy about windows Vista, it seems to buggy. that's why i never upgraded my desktop with vista, but since windows 7 came out I was thinking about upgrading my desktop to windows 7 but am a little weary about doing that. like is it good for gaming? will i still be able to use my other applications that i use on windows XP? I don't think i will have to upgrade my desktop any cause i am running and dual core processor 800mhz with 2gb of ram, 400gb hard drive Geforce gt200 video card. so tell me is it worth upgrading to windows 7 or did Microsoft make a more advanced version of vista that's just as crappy? or should I just stick with XP and save my money?
