Elijah of the Old Testament supposedly went up bodily to Heaven in a Chariot but returned to earth as John?

the Baptist. Jesus himself clarified the interpretation of the people who believed that Elijah will return to earth from Heaven - but he said John the Baptist is Elijah. My question is "Why don't you Christians get it? Jesus will NOT come back from the sky but another person will be born with his characteristics and he will be the Promised Messiah" Don't you guys get it?
